Attend one session or come for all four. 

Join poet Tammy Nuzzo-Morgan, founder of The North Sea Poetry Scene Press and Poet-in-Residence at Southampton Historical Museum for a discussion of Whitman’s life and work during the Civil War, followed by a workshop.

A unique opportunity for novice and experienced poets alike to explore Whitman’s verse and to pen some lines of their own. Refreshments will be served.

BIO FOR TAMMY-NUZZO MORGAN:

Ms. Morgan’s career milestones include: first woman to be appointed Suffolk County Poet Laureate; a position she held from 2009-2011; Walt Whitman’s Birthplace Association Poet of the Year 2017; and 2014 Poetry Director of Youth Program in Ireland at the Gerard Manly Hopkins Festival. She is Assistant Professor in Humanities at Briarcliffe College where she is working on her Ph.D. dissertation, “The Healing Power of Poetry and the Creative Process.” Author of several books of poetry including Let Me Tell You Something, which earned a Pulitzer Prize nomination in 2006, Ms. Morgan describes her work as confessional and has been writing poetry since she was a teenager.
